    I went this route also - they are very sorry you have to wait and give you a number to phone which again is almost useless.
    I believe there is a petition about it and I heard the SAPS is going to get taken to court if there is enough support and funds to do it. Not sure exactly by who - may be GOSA...not sure

    I've found out of frustration, that bulk e-mailing has yielded results in the past. Sending 30 e-mails, one after the other seemed to get their attention.

    Try that.

    This does work, if you're extremely polite / respectful and use as many email addresses as you can find

    Phoned about two weeks ago and sat on the phone for 1 hour 34 min only for the call to drop off...

    Just called CFR on 012 353 6111.

    Spoke to a very nice lady who assisted me with my reference number for my competency application.

    Dialled at 10h30 and call was answered at 10h51.

    i get over 1000 free minutes on my contract every month. I use about 200 of them just calling the CFR. sometimes I wait over an hour for them. But that's about the only calls I make in a month so don't mind using my minutes
