Re: 2nd Pistol Choices
G34 only really fits into standard div which has major and minor scoring.
Minor scoring does put you at a slight disadvantage.
You score 1less pt per Charlie.
Assume 100rd match and scoring 80a and 20c gives you 480 in major and 460 in minor. You will need to shoot the cofs roughly 4% faster in order to achieve the same HF. 480/100s = 4,8. Using 460 you would need 95.84 to achieve 4,8
That being said I don't see the issue if you have a G34 and want to learn the game. I'm currently shooting a shadow 1 (built for esp),Adjusting my score (from a recent league) to standard major gained 3% from a pts perspective.
I wouldn't buy a 34 for ipsc, but if you have one you could use it while you are learning the sport.
G17 or other full size polymer is a good choice as you can shoot production and it doubles as back up carry.
Shadow 2 for production as a dedicated game gun.

Re: 2nd Pistol Choices
You understand correct.
The 34 is very Ideal for IDPA because it falls under Stock Service Pistol.
In IPSC it falls under Standard Minor, not that ideal but yes, some people do great in that division with minor scoring, at least thats what I have heard.
