Licensing and CFR problems
Hi,
So looking at the amount of complaints we see daily about turn around at the CFR and just the general disregard to service delivery and basically being laughed at whenever we complain - whether it is via telephone, email, whatsapp or whichever means you attempt to get answers or get things moving more swiftly.
I have 2 questions:
1. If an application is never finalized and you never get final outcome is this just supposed to be OK because you must just wait? Since there is no clearly set timeline and escalation procedure or process.
2. Clearly there is nobody keeping CFR accountable for service delivery so do we just have no way to ever get any answers or get our application investigated? There is no clear point when an application has reached that requires a formal process to investigate the issue with the application and provide you with feedback and reasons as to what the problem is.
We have rights according to the bill of rights which are specifically written for this type of problem but clearly we have nobody protecting our rights and thus none of the rights are worth the paper they are written on.
I quote 2 from our bill of rights below:
Section 33 Just administrative action
Section 33 states that “Everyone has the right to administrative action that is lawful, reasonable and procedurally fair.” This section is unique amongst human rights instruments in terms of its detail on administrative due process.
Section 32 Access to information
Section 32 provides for the right to access to information, also known as the right to know. This provision is unique among human rights instruments, but are comparable with freedom of information legislation in other countries. The right to know was enshrined in the South African Bill of Rights in reaction to the restrictive information policies by the Apartheid regime.
Section 32 states that “Everyone has the right of access to any information held by the state; and any information that is held by another person and that is required for the exercise or protection of any rights.”
Section 32 not only provides for access to information held by the state, but also from a third party if it is required to exercise or protect any right. This makes this provision unique, even among freedom of information legislation, which commonly only apply to public bodies. Section 32 applies to public bodies, as well as private bodies, including companies.
Procedures for access to information under section 32, and the limitations on the release of information, are regulated by the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000.

Re: Licensing and CFR problems
Eish the Rona made everything difficult.
Reality is they have figured out how not to work, and trust me the CFR are not the only ones. So many of my business contacts delete the cell number from their email signature so you cannot call them and emails can safely be ignored. The beauty of working from home.

To be honest you can't expect any better. We can be lucky there exists a firearms act which allows private possession. The laws in the rest of the world are much worse.

Re: Licensing and CFR problems
Anything to delay the process!
Now we can’t submit applications for the 1st two weeks of April, until the 13th, as our finance department is closed/offline.
