    Default Union Defence Force (UDF)

Does anyone know if the UDF was organised into Military Districts in the early days, around 1914/5?

Alternatively, what was No 9 M.D. in 1915? There were others, such as Nos 6, 7, 13, 15 , etc

Unfortunately Peter to the best of my knowledge Richard is living in Sweden with his Swedish wife and Hamish has retired!

Thanks very much Boondog. A very interesting link and I found the answer to my query.

In December 2004 (Vol 13 No 2) Hamish Paterson had an article about the German SW Africa campaign in 1914/15. In it he makes mention of No 12 Military District (Prieska) and No 7 M.D, which seems to have been around Potchestroom. So yes, the UDF was organised into Military Districts.

Thank you Captain, all though no appointment is necessary. I have spent many many days in the Defence Force Archives over the past 15 years or so and have found all sorts of interesting stuff, particularly on handguns. However the records for the period before around 1920 are sparse. I haven't found any references to the organisation of the UDF so far!
