    Default Vlei Rat?

I saw this rodent close to our camp on the bank of the Orange River. The closest permanent human habitation is ±5km away. The rat was snacking on some green leaves.

Very interesting. Does not like human food so it is not dependent on human habitation.

Excellent photos. I can only imagine this rat species has fallen victim to some of those monster Orange river sharptooth catfish.

Definitely, the bigger baits usually delivers bigger cats. It's also natural so would most likely work well.

Same principle as sharks and flat fish then. Big, smelly baits win.
