When gutting the last pig I shot I mentioned in a post that the belly fat was 2/3 fingers thick. Cody claimed the pig had no kidney's (13 years old), I said "just look, they are there". He answered "no Dad, this ones just got fat"
I wonder what % of this pigs weight was fat. - 5 lt bucket + of visible pure fat ?

Fat is much less dense than muscle and does not add much weight.

We shot 2 Impala rams this weekend in the Steytlerville district.
Both weighed over 40kg (dressed weight - skin on, head off, feet off, gutted and cleaned).
One was 44kg and other was 43,5kg. Regularly get them around that weight.

Twass not I wot dunnit !

Cody's guiding a bloke for animal. Bloke here on site went for a Impala with Cody as his helper, thing is that the boy is getting so good at spotting setting up and aiding that it's difficult to not call him a guide.

Yes Cody is really coming into his own with being my P.H.
That boy is a champ and really enjoys showing what he knows.

Thanks again Dave and Cody for the hunting weekend.
    Really had a great time.

That's a heavy impala. Well done to your friend. Interesting that it had such short horns and that other people have also shot big-bodied impala with short horns.

In 2018 in the Dwaalboom area of Limpopo I shot an exceptional impala ram. Carcass weight (clean carcass - skin, head, guts, organs and feet removed) weighed 47kg and it's horns measured 23" (or close enough) both sides.

I also shot one a few weeks ago in the same area that weighed 42kg clean carcass. Horns were not measured but the farmer and his brother estimated them to be 22-23".
