Keeping it original and untouched by a drill bit and tap will keep it spotless.
Drilling and tapping for scope mounts is meant for other rifles...
Your limitations on open sight shooting to 100 metres isn't really a limitation, it gives you the opportunity to get closer to your hunted prey...
