Nightforce Scope - Grub screws coming loose

Hi to all.

Got a night force scope with a zero stop elevation control and a side to side adjustment knob for windage.

On both of these the grub screws now have a sudden alarming habit of coming loose and the sights go out of whack completely.

Once the screws are loose and you bouncing in the bakkie, you talking about the scope becoming 3m wide at 100m!!!

This is a .260Rem that normally shoots 1" group at 500m. Now you cant even get on paper at 25m. Have to boresight like a new mount.

Loctite??? Blue?? Red? Any other pointers?

Does your local gunshop fit scopes? If they have a torque wrench, take the locktite and the clean screws(no oil or grit, dip in meth spirit and clean) and put an Small amount of Locktite 243(blue I think)on the threads. Otherwise lap the rings for a tighter fit. Thats a mission and requires a very good engineering or smithing friend. Good luck had a similar problem.

If a scope turret is rotating because of loose grub screws, the scope adjustment should not be changing.

If the reticle moves when you bump the scope, send it to the supplier for a check-up.

Cheap loctite = wood glue or nail lacquer.

I'm struggling to picture whats going on. Turrets loosening is different to rings loosening. I think your on the money with this one.
