    Default Scouting day

Got out today to do a little scouting run with two friends and we found 4 coveys of greywing within 90 min. Counted around 60 birds. Dogs got some good work in. Not bad for close to 30deg heat.

Lovely country for pointing dogs. I believe the coveys are looking healthy this year. Hoping to get to the Stormberg before the end of the season. Enjoy it.

The last couple of weeks has been good for birds. Both my dogs are in full swing:

Nice. Is the little black dog a cocker spaniel?

No. English Springer Spaniel. Having his hair cut on Friday. Fabulous hunting partner. Just
battles with the big geese because he has a much smaller mouth than the Labrador.

    Nice looking dog.

The reason I asked is because working cockers seem to be almost non-existent in SA. Although a friend of mine recently helped out at a working spaniel event in Gauteng and there was a golden cocker in the field. The rest of the dogs were all springers.
