I don’t have any experience with Oracle but my instinct tells me that limitations should be put on any system to prevent overuse, or in the very least monitoring should not be done every decade and warnings should be issued that a customer is overreaching on a regular basis.

You can create as many user logins as you need. It is assumed you will not create more users than you are licensed for, but there is no restriction.

The only limited product is the Oracle Database XE that will limit the database size to 1or 2 GB.
Yes, but there will be an annual audit where you report number of users, etc, and then invoicing is adjusted

Maybe Eskom is changing the audit figures?

This is not about the software company.

This is about an arrogant, unaccountable government entity operating as if there is no consequence.

The South African public are unable, and government unwilling to hold them accountable for the damage they have done to our economy.

    This is a small come-uppance.

Just because the Guptas are not here, does not mean that the contracts they signed with Eskom have gone too. Those contracts are running, monthly retainers paid, and money is flowing to Guptastan.

Every time the cost of living in Dubai increases, we have to pay more for electricity.

The mind boggles that such vital digital infrastructure is outsourced to foreign companies that can just turn us off but I suppose thats the way of the 3rd world

Id recommend an outright purchase and ownership of the software

Do tell where your expertise lie in. Because it is not with software and licensing.

You would have had a better clue if you said, maybe a better SLA. Or even better, more competent engineers managing the current software.

A long shot would have been even designing your own in house.

But alas. You solved it all in one fell swoop

Serious question. Do you use Windows?
