Default Same caliber for different sections

    Hi,

I already have a 9mm handgun for Section 16. Looking into getting a handgun for Section 13. Will the act allow another 9mm for Section 13 or will a shotgun / different caliber handgun be better since they will be different calibers?

My question comes from the 200 round limitation of Section 13 VS the no limit for Section 16. If you have 2 x 9mm handguns, how will you prove which ammunition belongs to which firearm/section?

Why would you even apply now under S13.

If your already dedicated. Apply only under S16.

You may use a S16 for self defense. If that your next question.

I currently own no firearms under anything but S16.

    Hi BugsRSA.

To answer your specific question - You can license 2 9mm pistols. I have a S13 one, and have just been approved on my S16 one. You just have to be careful how to motivate it to show why the one you are motivating meets your specific requirements.

But probably makes sense to follow shooty's advice.

What gun is the 9mm that you currently have?
What are you looking to get?

Its a non issue. I had 6 9x19 pistols at one time.

You could have as many as can be motivated for.

I have 2 of the exact same 9mm pistols. Glock 19 for Sec 13 and Glock 19 on S16. The motivation and real reasons are what counts. CFR cannot deny me a second one for Sec 16 as it was clearly motivated that I cannot have my Sec 13 handgun to get the round count through it and I also cannot do minor modifications on it like on the Sec 16 handgun because of reliability etc. I thus need 2. If it is my choice to use a G19 for SD and also one for my sport shooting it is my choice. The law cannot dictate my choice of specific weapon for my specific sport shooting.

Yeah. Was just answering the specific question posed by the OP. I’m not saying you can only license 2.

Out of interest SSP - and maybe relevant to the thread - did you motivate each one differently, i.e. saying X is good for this specific event, Y is good for a different event? The question being, how did you motivate 6 different 9mm pistols in a way that they couldn't respond saying, you already have so no reason for another?
