.Was paging through my Cartridges of the World
Page 135 I found what may be the original Creedmoor, the 44-100 Remington Creedmoor 1880 desighned for the Remmington Hepburn #3 Long range rifle.
A 1000 and 1400 yard beast of a gun, throwing a 470 gr bullet at 1410 fps and a 550 gr bullet at 1380 fps. The company also made other cartridges under the name Creedmoor and lumped the name as target rifles cartridges.
A bit later in the book there is a 44-60 Peabody Creedmoor for the Peabody martini, firing a 365 gr bullet along at1280fps. 1875 abouts.

Got me thinking, what is Creedmoor?
Well its this place:
The 6.5 Creedmoor is named for Creedmoor Sports, a name that can be traced back to early NRA matches on the site of the “Creed” farm in upstate New York in 1874. The surrounding farmland reminded visiting British and Irish shooters of their “moorlands” back home—hence the term “Creedmoor.”
And :
Creedmoor
A small bedroom town outside of Raliegh, North Carolina. It is a great place to be from, the keyword being from. Half the population has lived there for generations, the other half moved from elsewhere. The half that's lived there for generations are degenerate rednecks that spend their time cruising the Food Lion parking Lot in wanna be ricer cars. The other half, the intelligent portion, go to Raliegh for entertainment and work, they simply sleep in Creedmoor. It is still a relatively quiet town, with overpopulated schools, but beware the "Pink Shirt Gang" and "White Shirt Gang" which allegedly cause trouble in the community and schools.

Many of the students within the schools who are second+ generation students (the degenerate rednecks) are racist and hate black people but prefer to listen to rap, and where urban apparel. Many of the black students are either poser thugs, or black rednecks. There is a minimal hispanic population, most of which is illegal and works in the Tobacco fields.

They're all a bunch of Creedmoor -ons

There is also this:
Creedmoor is a city in Granville County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 4,124 at the 2010 census.[5]
But also one in Texas :
Creedmoor is a city in Travis County, Texas, United States. The population was 202 at the 2010 census.

The Irish American rifle match 1874
The National Rifle Association, barely two years old, was ill-prepared when in November 1873 the ‘New York Herald’ published a challenge to the riflemen of America from the riflemen of Ireland. Their Creedmoor rifle range on Long Island had opened in Spring that year, and there was growing sporting interest in rifle shooting notably from the Amateur Rifle Club of New York City. In Great Britain their National Rifle Association had been established for over a decade and riflemen regularly competed out to 1,000 yards. The premier ‘home countries’ long range rifle match between England, Ireland and Scotland, the Elcho Shield, was won for the first time by Ireland in 1873. Buoyed by their success Ireland wanted further laurels, and it was the Amateur Rifle Club that accepted their challenge on behalf of the riflemen of America. The subsequent match at Creedmoor in 1874 was the first in a series of international competitions fired at 800, 900 and 1,000 yards that took place during the remainder of the 1870s. It is the forerunner of the Palma Trophy match still held today. The central story of Creedmoor is told via an extensively annotated article from 1876, the writer’s enthusiasm giving a feel for the times and in the lead up to the Centennial Match at Creedmoor that year. David Minshall provides background information on events that lead to the Irish challenge and the 1874 rifle match and concludes the story with details of the follow-up match at Dollymount, Ireland, in 1875

And then there is this latest fad:
The 6.5mm Creedmoor (6.5×48 mm),[6] designated 6.5 Creedmoor by SAAMI, 6.5 Creedmoor by the C.I.P. or 6.5 CM or 6.5 CRDMR for short, is a centerfire rifle cartridge introduced by Hornady in 2007,[7] developed by Hornady Senior Ballistics Scientist Dave Emary in partnership with Dennis DeMille, the Vice-President of Product Development at Creedmoor Sports, hence the name. The cartridge is a necked down modification of the .30 TC.[8][9]
The 6.5mm Creedmoor was designed specifically for long-range target shooting,[7] although it has success in game hunting.[8] Bullet-for-bullet, the 6.5mm Creedmoor achieves a slower muzzle velocity than longer cartridges such as the 6.5-284 Norma or magnum cartridges such as the 6.5mm Remington Magnum. However, due to its overall length of 2.825 inches (71.8 mm), it is capable of chambering in short-action rifles.

All the above is cut and past, not meant to be my own work - just in case you ever wondered about the Creedmoor word.

While busy I found these, did you know there was a series of cartridges called Peabody's and a another named the 'What Cheer" -the 44-95 Peabody"What Cheer" which also came in 40-90 WhatCheer and 40-70 WhatCheer
