    Default Help With Maverick 88

Good day all. Just picked up a Maverick 88 which will mostly be used for home defence.
What is going to be the easiest way to get a sling attached and an option of mounting a spare Olight M2R I have.
Looking forward to some useful recommendations.

You can try the NCC STAR SHOTGUN MAGAZINE TUBE MOUNT.

Attaches to Mag Tube, and then you can attach goodies to this with picatinny (sling mount & Torch).

    Cheap & effective solution.

The screw that holds the barrel lug onto the mag tube end can easily be drilled and tapped to accept a QD sling swivel stud.
I have also seen the barrel lug being drilled and tapped on the bottom to accept a stud.
On the butt stock you can screw in a self-tapping type of stud, or one with a nut on the inside of the hollow plastic part.
    Talk to your friendly gunsmith.

The screw that holds the barrel lug onto the mag tube of my M88 was received drilled and tapped. I just got a sling swivel stud with the corresponding thread and also a nut for it to lock it in place. At the bottom of the stock is a flat square part precisely where a self-tapping stud should be drilled for and screwed in. Was an easy DIY job for me.

When using those type of mag tube attachments, just be sure to not over tighten them. I gave seen shotguns with feeding problems because a part of the mag spring gets stuck in the part where these tube mounts where placed and then tightened so hard that the mag tube is compressed slightly, but it catches the spring.

Depending on which model of Maverick you have, there may not be enough space left on the mag tube to mount such a clamp. On the model with the shorter (5 - 6 round) mag tube you may have to clamp your light mount on the barrel.

I wouldn't mount this on the barrel. As Adoons rightfully mentioned, over-tightening can lead to slight restriction. Also the barrel heats up after a few shots which may cause issues with the clamp.

I understand that, but keep in mind that the barrel walls are significantly thicker than that of the mag tube. But yes, over-tightening is definitely bad.

"Slight restriction" in a shotgun barrel sounds almost like a choke.
