Oh for heavens sake! The whole SAQUA and Unit Standards thing is about qualifications for employment. Nothing to do with the voluntary activities. If you are so paranoid about range officering perhaps you should stick to tiddly-winks?

I do not appreciate your attitude Peter, please add meaningful comments and add to the conversation rather trying to belittle someone. There are various legal ramifications if there is a fatality at a range you were in charge of even if you did not do anything wrong, what will the court accept as being a qualified person and as for insurance against such occurrence, they can decide to repudiate the claim. If you are the responsible person for the range and another "range officer" runs the range and incident occurs what then, how will you alowing them to use the range affect possible action against you? A lot of people has stated you do not need to register a range with SAPS and NCRS, but if an incident occurs what is the implications.? Our sport is seriously under fire at the moment and these are questions that we need to discuss and try to prevent any negative repercussions in the future.

Every range in the country has to be certified by the NRCS in terms of the compulsory standard. Accreditation by the SAPS is only required if training is carried for the purposes of competency. There is also a requirement when ammo is sold at the range.

NRCS does not require a trained range officer to be appointed before they certify a range.
