Norinco or Barnaul for 308?
So I am looking to buy some cheap plinking ammo and was wondering if I should get the usual Norinco 7.62x51 surplus at whatever they are going for per round these days (I assume it's around R6 or so) or just spend a bit extra and get some Barnaul 140gr at R9 a round.
It will be shot out of a Howa 308 not a SLR.
So buy more ammo with the Norinco or get better ammo and probably better compatibility with the Howa with the Barnaul and not risk bad rounds with old ammo, yes I know they are probably good but can we be assured they are non-corrosive, etc.

It's a cheap rifle so use cheap ammo. Sorry you are overthinking it. I get it I was there once. I shoot it out of a FAL para and it has not blown up yet.

You can shoot 50% more Norinco, with the same money. Norinco have a very weird stinky smell to them but both the empty cases have a very distinct clicking sound if you jiggle the cases in your hand before chucking them in the scrap steel bin.
