Re: K98 Safety / Telescope Issue
Thor makes a Winchester style safety. Works like a charm

Re: K98 Safety / Telescope Issue
In the real world there are situations where this is not practical, there will be times when there is no time to chamber a round and there will be times when chambering a round will alert the animal you are after, meaning you won't get a shot. Every hunting rifle should have a functioning safety.

Re: K98 Safety / Telescope Issue
Either a 45° safety or a Winchester mod. 70 type safety will work.
Below is my Parker Hale .375 H&H with its original safety (top) and with a 45° safety (bottom).

Re: K98 Safety / Telescope Issue
Mod 70 style safety is a nice cocnervsrion but the 45 deg option works well, and is inexpensive, easy to do. My last 45 deg saftey just touched the scope when on but worked 100%. Mauser safetys block the firing pin when on, and are well designed.
