Maybe a better question is "Has anyone that applied in the last 6 weeks' applications been captured yet"

    Agreed. So has anyone?

So some good news in the midst of the chaos. My app submitted at Sandton on 31 May (ref 878...) was captured this morning and received an sms.

Only received one SMS thus far from my two apps submitted on the 21st of May... still waiting for the second, but yeah who is counting days, weeks, months in any case...

I actually spoke to a friend, he handed in 3 apps on the 3rd of May (also Sandton), did not receive a SMS for his AR 15, nor did I for mine... Is this perhaps a new trend of them further delaying us on semi auto gats?

I don't think its that. My app was for a semi-auto shotgun.

I think it's just process and understaffing

Apologies, I should have stated up top that my tracking number received was only for my semi-auto shotgun, he received for his pistol & semi-shotgun as well. But neither of us received it for our AR-style rifles.

Not sure if they perhaps put them in a "to be scrutinised" pile or something?

I read here on GunSite a while back that there is a single person that deals with SLR applications, is that true?
If so, it would explain delays.

Could be. But my AR was submitted last year Sep - and was processed on the next day at the DFO and approved in April. My handgun app submitted in Nov was only marginally quicker. I really just think its terrible processes, staff with zero incentive and the amnesty applications clogging up the system. You never know though.
