Re: Hunting under Lockdown Level 4
(SA Hunters news letter)
Good day friends,
The adjusted level 4 COVID-19 restrictions apply from 28 June 2021 (refer here to the Government Gazette dated 27 June 2021 here) and have the following impact on SA Hunters activities:
3) Hunting – there are the following implications with the adjusted level 4 restrictions:
3.1) Hunters in Gauteng may hunt in Gauteng, but they may not travel over the Gauteng borders to hunt in other provinces. The definition of “Subsistence hunting” allowed hunters during a specific period in 2020 to cross provincial borders, but this was withdrawn later during 2020. Hunters in Gauteng may therefore not use “Subsistence hunting” as motivation to cross borders other provinces.
3.2) The hunters in all the other provinces may cross provincial borders to hunt, but they may not cross the Gauteng border to hunt in Gauteng. They may travel through Gauteng on their way to the hunting destination and back (in transito through Gauteng)Last edited by gary-t; 29-06-2021 at 08:51. Reason: shorten message

Re: Hunting under Lockdown Level 4
Dear Member,
The current Covid-lockdown in Gauteng could have effect on members' hunting arrangements in the weeks ahead.
As far as we know the arrangements (Regulations) for level 4 lockdown are still the same as they were last year (2020).
If you live in Gauteng, or have to travel through Gauteng to your hunting destination, we suggest you make use of documentation referred to in Newsletter Vol. 16(25) dated 25 May 2020.
Rather have to many papers than to few when travelling through Gauteng.
If you can avoid travelling trough Gauteng, we suggest you rather try and do that.
Kind Regards

Yeah, yeah. Of course, Messor the Oracle never buckles to any laws that he considers unsuitable. And what on earth has petitions about taxis got to do with anything?
Of course firearm owners cry foul when their rights are being infringed. Who else will? Messor? No, he's too busy telling everyone they don't understand life, medicine, guns, food, science, the bush and everything else.

Re: Hunting under Lockdown Level 4
Except, won’t the rest of the country also benefit from from the “bigger and better” economy that these roads are supposed to facilitate? Aren’t coastal towns dependent on the money Gautengers come and spend there every year? We know you did not ask for the toll roads, nor did we. Having us pay an unjust tax so you don’t have to, will only advance the agenda of our opponents. Not long after that they will unfairly come to expropriate more of your hard work. At least by Gauteng’s rejection of paying tolls, the point is made to them that they should rather fuck off. Your problem is not with the Gautengers that don’t want to pay tolls(that is in fact part of your solution), your problem is the same as ours, a State that wants to bleed its citizens dry to the point of total socialist control to fund their continued criminal enterprise. It’s better if we don’t turn on each other and rather focus on the real problem.
To the dismay of the farmer, we also cancelled a trip this weekend. While I don’t agree with the regulations, we have a lot on the line and deciding to disregard them can have serious and far reaching consequences for our future. We are playing the long game.

We all agree that E Tolls is a load of BS.
What everyone is referring to, is that the rest of the country has to Pay for GP's nice roads, while we have shitty ones full of potholes.
But then again, aren't we already paying for it in the fuel taxes, so literally paying twice for the roads?A roaring Lion kills no game

Re: Hunting under Lockdown Level 4
Gauteng residents pay a disproportionate share of the cost of roads elsewhere because of our larger contribution to the fiscus. Tolls on metropolitan ring and through roads are unusual. They are normally implemented on roads where there isn't enough local revenue collected to fund them or on National roads. Resisting etolls is not a 'selfish' act. its a principled one that benefits everyone as the scheme is a scam to take vast amounts of money offshore that could have been collected quite literally for free using existing fuel levy collection. It could even have been done on a temporary local basis where fuel was marginally more expensive in Gauteng for a few years. I believe that OUTA showed that it would have been paid for in entirety with 3 years of a 10c hike. I think we've had that and more already.

Re: Hunting under Lockdown Level 4
It comes back to believing what is just and fair, and what laws people believe should be ignored or followed.
The anc will just keep on making laws we don’t agree with, and it will be up to us to either accept them, or ignore them, and take responsibility for our actions.
Regarding the subject, please note the Delta variant have been detected in all provinces, so it’s not like it can be exported from Gauteng.
In effect it’s the second year many folk won’t see hunting, and this is merely because of government incompetence, nothing more, so you cannot tell me this law is just. If it is about protecting people, well people have the right and personal obligation to protect themselves, this is both from a health and a financial viewpoint, no point in being so worried about getting a virus if you can’t pay the rent anymore, or even your medical aid bill, that is illogical.
As for the leisure part, sure, hunting is leisure, but it is the exact same reason people are by company law required to take leave, humans need it.
If a taxi can cram 100 people into it, and magically still follow guideline rules, then I am damn sure hunters can do this as well.
You want to block a handful of people crossing the border, I drive on the N1 I know what it looks like, a million trucks all carrying the virus, the drop in the ocean hunters won’t change that.
But, opinions.
