I have used training collars to great effect although my Retrievers are far more
    sedentary than GSP`s.
My collars have three settings - audio, vibrate and shock. I have only ever used vibrate
with no problems whatsoever. I can set it from 0 - 100 but they are permanently set
    on 50.

Do you perhaps have a link? The audio and vibrate options sound worthwhile investigating.

They were about 2 K 2 or 3 years ago. 2 collars off a single remote.

I have a set of Num axes dog training collars I am willing to part with. Two collars, one remote which works on both of them. Originally obtained from Classic Arms, Witbank.
I must just go and find it first....
Haven't used them in quite a while.

The original intention when we got these two monsters were pets, however the hunting instinct has kicked in in the female and I would like to pursue that. They are fantastic dogs, super intelligent, great watchdogs and hyper active...they have certainly crept into our families hearts.
I had my Brit at Boavida and he is better off for it. In my opinion if you are struggling to spend time in the field with your dog it is certainly worth boarding the dogs at Boavida for training. Training 2 dogs at once might also be a bit troublesome, although perhaps not as much with tracking dogs.
