You can use 150 or 160 gr bonded bullets in the 270 Win and hunt any table fare other than the real Eland monsters. The same could be achieved using monolithic bullets.
A .270 shooting 110 gr mono bullets or 130 gr bonded bullets is a flat shooter.
You can load up both and be sure to stop at the range before the occasion that you wish to use the other bullet weight.
For years I only had a .270 shot Eland to Springbuck with it. Used the lighter bullets for everything including Kudu, had plans to use the heavy bullets, but never got round to it - the 130 gr did it all.
Later I only had 150 gr bullets left (bought 600 130 gr and 600 150 gr) and started using the 150 gr, will never go back to 130 gr, the 150 gr .270 Win is able to do anything and only shoots less than need worry about lower out at 300 m.

Me thinks its a want, not a need, and should be treated as such.

I'm happy for my 270 to sit in the safe a bit more and use it if friends or my wife ever want to shoot with me or just to go to the range for fun. Budget is limited so although it'll be a second rifle it'll have to be something that can do most things, such as the 308. The 308 will replace my 270 and do more. Then oneday in the distant future I would get something for longer distance range shooting
Its a want, buy what ever YOU WANT!
As Treeman says, you can shoot anything with your 270, no problem. I've been on many hunts with guys who own 270's and they've shot warthog, kudu and everything in between.

If springbok is the thing that you going to shoot, most of the time, grab a 243 - you wont be sorry.

Yep, scratch the itch - you know you want to.

As stated above, the 270 will overlap the 6.5 and .308 with the right bullets. To really create some differential you need to go much smaller (6mm or less) or bigger (.338 or more). If I had a .270 and I wanted a bigger caliber I’d go .375…
