KZN Sitrep
Evening all.
Just got off a call with a friend in Balito that all is going to shit around them, worse than earlier. Apperently Tongaat is burned to ashes, CPF has blocked all roads and bridges doing checks. Shooting on the farms, skirmishes with cops and cpf. Nothing is reported in the news.
This true?

Re: KZN Sitrep
Maritzburg ok at the moment, at least my side of town. Most shops cleared out to avoid looting. CPF "barricading" and patrolling most areas.
Hectic wind though and reports of fires being lit Hilton/cedara/Wartburg areas.
Dalton /Nottingham road/merrivale seems to be worse off, lots of looting.
Everyone on high alert.

Re: KZN Sitrep
Looking at videos and reports, it looks like full-blown war. Videos doing the rounds of bodies lying next to the roads in KZN where citizens had enough and apparently decided to shoot back. Videos of citizens and CPF groups manning roads in rows, firing at protesters (not sure if live ammo or not).
It's a shitshow. Problem is SANDF and SAPS have their hands tied. Marikana showed them they they can't shoot at dangerous, armed, violent attackers and they should rather run away than do their job. At least then they'll still have a job.

Yes. The did hit the fan. Civilians do not own rubber bullets, so it has to be live ammo. At least the prez last night said its commendable that civilians are standing up and protecting themselves, not condemning it.

Re: KZN Sitrep
Lethal force is what may be needed to stop the looting.

Re: KZN Sitrep
We do have access to less lethal ammo and you can buy baton rounds for shotguns. I saw a video yesterday of paintball guns and a shotgun being used. No bodies on the floor so must be less lethal. I really hope it is.... less lethal. Just remember we as gun owners are being targeted Cele and the anti gun lobby. Do not give these guys ammo to use against us, guns in SA is not a right and will be taken away if public perception is created that we are irresponsible and killers. Ask the police at Marikana
Calmer voices should prevail always!!! The law is also clear on this. Only shoot if you or others lives are in immanent danger. Protect your own as best you can but don't aggravate by calling for shooting people. Yo may also not protect property with lethal force.... This is a now win situation if you shoot, a life is not worth a plasma TV. The consequences are easy, they return fire you are making yourself a target for return fire and you will be prosecuted as you are an low hanging fruit for Cele. Who will protect your family when you are dead or in prison. Remember, even pointing an air gun or a shotgun with a baton round at someone you will be tried as if it was a reel firearm.
I take my hat off to those who are assisting the police but these people are doing it under police or CPF guidance.
