    Default Semi-Auto Shotgun capacity

I hope this isn't a question that has been flogged to death but I've searched and I can find anything definitive on the forum. But I see the act states :16.(1)(c) "any semi-automatic shotgun to fire no more than five shots in succession without having to be reloaded".

Now I see that there are a lot of semi-autos being sold as 7+1, 8+1, 10+1 etc. How does licensing work then if the act states max 5 rounds ?

Haven't noticed that, must look into it. Semi-auto shotguns with factory capacities > 5 predate the act and no-one that I know who has one, except one elderly oom with a Beretta A300, have capacities < 5. Just checked my archived motivation for one and it specifically calls out the capacity which is >5.

Those were proposed amendments (can't remember the year), but they never went into effect.

I did ask the question of Natshoot and their response was maximum 5 so I dont think they were just proposed.

The 5 shot limit has always been in the act. The quotation is incorrect.

Apologies there was an amendment in 2006.

    See link: https://www.gov.za/documents/firearm...mendment-act-0

Which removed the restriction of 5 rounds.
I have also confirmed this with Paul from GOSA.
