You could be onto something there.

Same with my Gen 4, it has wear but no scratches and I've had that gun for ages.

Don't have an issue with wear, just thought I could keep that new look for a couple of months to show off to friends

Anyway, here is a picture of the other side for comparison, almost perfect.

You put the gun down on a surface with sand on it, or you had a bit of sand on the gun/holster while holstering.

Just shoot the thing. It's a (defensive) killing machine, not a work of art.

A Glock comes out of the factory ugly and gets even uglier every time you use it. That's just how they are.

The more you use it, the more marks and shiny spots it will get. This may even earn you some respect amongst the knowledgeable.

Find the source of the sand/grit or reform the holster slightly, seems like a tight spot on that side.

The scratches are too deep to be made by the holster. They must have been made by something loose in the holster.

I had the same issue ,I eventually painted the inside of the holster where I thought it was rubbing with some tamiya acrylic model paint. After few unholster and reholstering I could see where it was touching inside the holster by where the paint rubbed off. I heated the spot up with a hair dryer and pushed that spot out a bit till I was happy. It will never be perfect but it's no longer stratching it more

Scratches? Don't worry, the Glock is self repairing in this respect and eventually them scratches sort of just disappear...
