Maybe rather group them and decide from there:

    Small and light:
    22LR, 222, 223 etc

    Medium:
    6.5mm whatsoever, 308, 8x57, 30-06, 7x57

    Larger:
    338 WM, 375, 458 whatsoever,

    Or

    Very small
    .22LR, 204Ruger, 22 Hornet

    Smaller medium:
    243 Ackley, 6.5mm whatsoever, 7-08,

    Heavier medium/large:
    8x57, 338, 9.3x ..., 375

"Likely to hunt", that be the keywords, dangerous game are not hunted by most SA people, hence not likely to be hunted, at all for that matter.

I get the feeling most people just answered at the sight of the question, not to the question itself.
I have used the .375 H&H very successfully on game as small as springbok and warthog and I think that it is really well suited to eland and blue wildebeest bulls.

I do not think that the various .416's fit into the requirements listed by the OP, but... My hunting experience with the .416's are limited to cape buffalo, warthog and a dassie. It was an Eastern Cape dassie though...

No, no they dont at all, hence my disappointment at the answers, sure you can shoot everything with a large cal but we all know that does not make logical sense.

I was hoping at least this time the list would make sense, but no.
Look, I too can drive a F250 in town, to go and do shopping, is that the best choice, no.

You don't go to a hunting venue and find 950 dangerous game and 50 normal antelope, it's always the other way around for the average hunter.
Simply put the average person don't need a large caliber, at all, so it's not supposed to make the list as specified by the OP.

Simply put, the average hunter needs a .308, or if he is slightly more robust, a .30-'06.
But, the OP did ask for 3 calibers.

Ok so it's a wish list then, not a what to use in which scenario kind of thing.

Then it's a free for all brawl, where the rules are made up and the points don't matter :)

As you can clearly see the one thing missing in this debate is logic :)
