Agreed. I’m going hunting at Anticosti in Oct/Nov and the amount of equipment to take along is astounding.

I want to hunt dangerous game, but just remove the dangerous part please.

I was 12/13 when I cheered a bull killing a matador, only to find out any bull that beats its tormentor is executed any way. I still recall the hopeless despair I felt at that travesty of thinking.

Stick to Kudu if you want reassurance of safety in the hunt.
Saddle me up one of those Cape bulls and I’ll take him for a spin ‘round the watering hole.

Binos, rifle, knife and phone that's it. Anything else is always within vehicle reach. I Pretty much don't eat the whole day anyways as is. I drink very little as well. Sometimes a stick of biltong in my pocket. What I've noticed is most people cannot go a few hours without snacking. Their energy levels drop and by midday they would rather go eat than hunt.

    My bag has:
    Water bladder with 3L
    Knife
    Some paracord
    Extra ammo for the rifle
    First aid kit
    GPS and spare batteries
    Binos
    Spare mags for handgun

    4 rounds of .375 H and H.
Sometimes walked a long long long way.
    Young and stupid.
Far easier to sit at home and talk about the warthog stories now.

    Default Your hunting bag…

Honestly, the deeper in the bush I go on foot, nowadays…
The smaller my quarry. The prospect of dragging anything that weighs 40 kg or more for a mile or more away from my truck at my age always plays into whether I really, really do want to take a shot at that big whitetail/feral hog/sasquatch.
Not to mention the hoisting, gutting, skinning and quartering of same, followed by processing over the course of the next day or two. At what age does one begin to get chuffed over making the entire endeavor more easy & efficient?

I passed the last really big pig I saw up for this very reason, " we going to hunt it Dad?" - "Naaa my boy, how we going to get it back" - "we can cut it up Dad!" - " 5 trips at least Cody, no way"
    ........................"awwwwww Dad!"
