Most (if not all) will fit in your DC - assuming it will be in the canopy?

Ad for the rest - I think it's a matter of budget and personal choice.

I went for ARB. But Engel, NL, Snowmaster etc are all good.

I really like the National Luna fridges, and would probably be my pick. Having said that I have no experience with the Snomaster, so not really a balanced comment.

To me they all like Leatherman, you pay the big bucks and they work. To date all the 6K + fridges work well.
Like Sheepie said, have no experience with them all, but been round them all.

Yeah Treeman has a point. When I bought mine I agonised over Dometic vs Engel. Ended up with the Dometic due a special that came up.

Having had the Dometic for a few years now, as my camping fridge and doing double duty as bar fridge at home, I can’t say I’ve given the issue any thought since.

It works, and hasn’t stopped working.

Chances are, whichever you buy will be the same situation.

My sample of 1 is a Waeco cf50 (before Dometic bought them over), I bought more than 5 years ago. Rides on the back of my Isuzu under the tonneau cover. Thanks to Eskom and their loadshedding my 220v power source has blown and would cost about the same price as a new one to repair. A 12v power supply was a cheap fix! As Skaaphaas says I also end up using it more than one would think. Was filled up for most of the winter with the overflow droëwors! Doubles as bar fridge in summer! 50 litre is nice in the sense that 1 can carry it myself loaded. Bigger would require a second set of hands.

I too went for a special on a Dometic. It worked great for 3 years. However now even set on plus 10 degrees it still freezes. Obviously out of warranty.

I’d be entirely pissed off if mine did that.

Have you had it looked at?

I bought a secondhand Waeco CF80 and it has been working for me for 5 years. Works as camp freezer, beer cooler, load shitting fridge. The last time it had to stand in the sun from 14h00 but the beer was still ice cold. The 80 liter model is nice for a home and long trips but as said previously it becomes a 2 person job to move.
The 230v power supply also expired and I just bought 2 cheap made in china in a hurry 230 to 12v DC 150w power supplies (keep the 1 for spare). Just make sure you buy the biggest PS without a fan as the fan models are quite noisy.
According to the net the old Waeco models are a bit heavy on power consumption but most camp sites have 230v or you slap a solar panel in the sun then the extra consumption becomes less of a issue for me.
