Doing its name justice.

Closest I got to one of these on foot was about 30m, on a hiking trail in the Kruger. It appeared from behind a bush at a mudhole, while the guide was explaining how the absence of the resident daggaboy was strange. It was a tense few moments but Mr Buff appeared to be in a good mood that morning.

Out of interest, does the Buffalo do the mud rolling thing for the same reason as elephant, warthog etc and that being for the flies and skin mites or another reason?

I believe that it might be for the same reason, however, it is mostly the old bulls that does it. Hence the name dagga(mud)boy for old bulls.
