Re: Fishing south coast
The Locals catch and keep fish just a few cm long against all regulations , They make soup with all the tiny undersized fish? The shore line on the Natal coast is currently in a very sad state, I rememer as a a kid all the fish I used to catch on the north and south coast so easly, Now I am an adult and struggle to catch anything!!!Like I said a boat or a Sprinkbok type fisherman is the only way to catch now adays!!

Re: Fishing south coast
I used to fish a lot around the Transkei & East London coast: Dwesa, Coffee Bay, Mazeppa, Bashee River - lots of fish to be found
Most fish I caught (and still catch) is around Jeffrey's Bay, St Francis Bay, Oyster Bay... Thats where I grew up...
The locals rather go chokka fishing and still lots of fish around...
Never had a problem with safety, but I am always armed anyway... (Gun mostly in a waterproof bag inside fishing bag when I'm on the rocks & not loaded)

Re: Fishing south coast
I've found that if you forget to bait the hook, the fish almost never bother you
It seems to work as well in dams & rivers as it does in the sea!
