Great result! Guns that have your handwork in them are just better. Wish you many happy days in the bush with it.

Basically did some YouTubing and followed the advice.

I didn’t need to take the original finish off the stock cause it didn’t really have one on

So i dry sanded it with 800 grain, and then wet sanded it with 800 grain and tru oil twice.

Wet sanded with 1200 grain probably around 10 times….

Then applied around 6 coats of tru oil every 2nd or 3rd day, once it had dried….

    Voila.

I have an old brno stock that i will also be redoing. Ill take more photos each step and maybe document it a bit better

The wet sanding steps really make a difference ito pore filling which not only looks better but also makes the stock more resistant to taking on moisture. For those not keen on a high gloss finish tru-oil can be dulled down with a light rub with 0000 steel wool. makes it look more like a hand rubbed London oil finish.

They shoot through a Buffalo length wise
Just confirming that these 480gr dzombos do indeed work very well on buffalo

    Good Shooting!
I really love love the Dzombos!
I have shot a Buffalo in the ass with the 500gr Dzombo out my 458 Lott, and it came out its chest and is probably still flying somewhere.....

At the risk of going OT, please tell us more about the buff! Looks like an ancient scrum cap daga boy!
And the bullet hole between the eyes suggests a story of some sort because that's not the money shot on a calm buff at distance! Ha ha!

Unfortunately there is no great story behind this.

Old, skinny, very sick dagga boy who was hanging around too much (never moving more than 50m or so day in and day out, so had to destroy the old chap as sooner or later he was going to run over staff.

Dispatched him at about 20m on the edge of the riverine thicket. Head shot with back up rifle shot to the engine immediately afterwards in case he didnt drop straight away

Back on thread a bit, the dzombo went through his head and out into the river. The 2nd shot (also a dzombo) went straight through.

Great rifle , I still love my .458 Mannlicher Schoenauer , busy upgrading the ghost ring on it, want to make it more adjustable to acquire running targets quicker ..Shot recently and it is a joy..
