    Even if it is buffed it will show polish marks.

    Like said above, the camera probably caught the polish lines.

    If you want to get the polish lines off, you need to wipe or rub it down with a soft cloth.

    That is how SW makes them. They call it satin stainless finish. It gives it a matte type of finish.

    Many moons ago when I was in the trade, we used to get 2 versions of stainless steel S&W's.
    Brushed stainless steel and highly polished stainless steel.

    Yours looks like the brushed stainless steel version.

    Gents, thank you for all the responses. I think I agree with you all and am a little less concerned. The lighting was clearly very harsh which would make any little 'brushed' mark show up. You can see the lighting is very harsh by the shadows and the fact that the logo's are all totally blown out.
