Last Surviving ‘Band Of Brothers’ Officer dies at age 99
https://www.dailywire.com/news/last-...ent=non_member
The greatest generation will soon all be gone. Very sad. We must remember the heroic sacrifices they might fighting the evil of National Socialism. Not the mention the horrors they witnessed at death camps like Dachau.
But in my opinion, Ed Shames should have gotten a medal for stealing Hitler's Cognac as well as his battlefield heroics. Cannot think of a better repudiation of the Fuhrer than to steal his booze and use it to toast your son's Bar Mitsvah! Such sheer audacity and balls are found in few men today.

RIP Col Shames.
Coincidentally, I just finished the last episode of the official Band of Brothers podcast today.
The presenter is annoying, but it's a worthy listen for fans of the miniseries, just for the behind the scenes stories and recounting regarding some of the Easy Company heroes.
