Re: Canik TP9SF - Anyone been using one for a few years?
You don't need to use it for sport. Once a license is approved it is for any lawful purpose. Lying in the safe would also qualify..😅

Re: Canik TP9SF - Anyone been using one for a few years?
Just to be clear here, I am aware that I cant licence the gun as a back up/spare parts BUT I also dont need to belong to a shooting club etc apparently? This is from the guy who will be doing the app for me when I asked if I need to belong to a club or something similar to get a second 9mm on S15..
If I dont need to belong to a club and do some periodic shooting then the gun could full well live in the safe for the next 10 years right and who would know/care?
If this is wrong then can someone please confirm this before I pay money to someone who doesnt know what they are doing? (its not the same person who handled my S13 last year)
"It is always good to have, but not necessary. As long as you dont have more than 4 firearms or do not want to buy a semi auto rifle.
You will however need to be a Dedicated member if you want to apply for more than 4 firearms, or more than 2 handguns, or a semi auto rifle."

Re: Canik TP9SF - Anyone been using one for a few years?
The thing is, you will have to give good reasons when motivating the second 9mm. (They tend to quickly refuse an app if you already have "one of those".) So the motivation needs to explain why you need another pistol and why the old one would not suffice. (Different length/size sighting setup.) "Occasional" sport shooting would help a lot. So where are you shooting? Club membership should answer that. Dedicated status not needed yet, but it can't hurt. Also consider the benefit of DSS to your ammo limit.
Let's go Sarel !!!

Good choice. They currently closed till somewhere in Jan. Gives you some time to complete the DSS tests , if you going thar route.
Funny enough I'm in a similar dilemma I have a G19 and looking at a second handgun. As much as I "want" a Baretta M9A3 it makes more sense to stick to glock.
All the best in purchasing and licensing.
Cheers

Re: Canik TP9SF - Anyone been using one for a few years?
Greetings Tappets,
Have you considered a GLOCK 19X or 45.
Basically has the larger grip of a 17, but the shorter/ smaller slide of a 19.
19X and 45 is virtually the same FA, the 45 has front slide serrations, does not have the lanyard loop, a slightly flared magwell and the 19X has improved nPVD slide coating.
The bonus is your Glock 19 holsters should work fine with them.
BTW: I have my CZ 75 SP-01 SHADOW (one) on SEC 15 and got a GLOCK 19X on SEC 13, hopefully by March I'll have it in my hands I'm with NARFO, it's definitely worth belonging to a club and getting your dedicated status.
Where are you situated if I may ask?
Anyways goodluck with your purchase and application, all the best.

Re: Canik TP9SF - Anyone been using one for a few years?
Thanks.
Im A total new shooter... Zero experience... Put 350 rounds through my G19... Not a single issue... No feed failures etc... Different quality ammo and different grain weight..quite accurate for a novice.. easy to clean... Loads of spares..
Great for confidencence so I am happy to continue with Glock... Although i wouldn't mind trying a Canik or something else oneday...
