I've put 1000 rounds through my Shield Gen2 mags without issues. Glock insisting on their IP of polymer covering over the steel mag affects space for more rounds. Simple as that.

Ja, it's not like there aren't plenty of examples of steel mags in plastic framed guns that work perfectly well. My P07 being a case in point. It goes many thousands of rounds between non-ammo related failures.

These have finally - and rather silently - appeared locally almost a year after launch.

I was surprised to see them listed on Hailstorm’s website.

Who’s biting the proverbial R1240 bullet and letting us know how they run? The American market doesn’t seem impressed…

I belive Bunker Arms had some a month or two back. Think was a kit of 2 mags and the mag catch. Not sure if it sold out.

Recently bought the Z9 combo with mag catch from Jizni.

Their first lot was sold out.

Made sure I bought when the second lot came in.

Starting function testing with ball ammo only yesterday. No issues.

Moving on to various jhp today.

The difference in grip length between the G43 and G43x both with Shield mags in, is negligible IMHO. I have both.

Please let us know how that goes.

Would moving to steel mean that all one’s OEM mags would be redundant?

So this should've been a 10rd mag. . . like the factory 43x mag, which only doesn't fit in the 43 because Glock needed you to buy the 43x as well. Got nothing against Glocks, 19gen5 is always in my recommended for compacts but they've lost the micro9 pistol battle. And more and more buyers are gravitating towards the micro9s

Glock makes excellent mags that have zero reliability issues. I read somewhere that Gaston was not in favour of them dispensing with the polymer outer on their proprietory design.

Cue a company like Shield Arms to do what they did.

The jury is still out about the long term reliability of the shield mags, me thinks

That may be true but I dont think it's about their method of construction which is typical for pretty much anyone other than Glock.

The steel mag catch apparently does not affect the reliability of the std OEM mags.
