    Default The WTF Hartebeest.

We often id a game animal by its silhouette or the way it moves, even when it is not clearly visible. When I first saw this silhouette I was, for a moment, completely baffled. Turned out it was a red hartebeest with a deformed horn, not an entirely new species.

Should this animal not be culled because it possibly carries an undesirable gene that can be passed on to its progeny ?

Nature does not work this way, defects are normal, they dont persist, only humans are dumb enough to breed with mutations, such as those idiotic color variants.

What Messor said. Also it is not necessarily a genetic problem, it could easily have resulted from an injury to the horn.

The damage on the one does look like it could be from a fight perhaps?

Fringe benefits with a shot right...
A low rider horn at its best.

An interesting and unique set of horns.

    Thanks for sharing TStone.
