    Default 9.3x62 at 300 meters.

I have recently mounted a new scope, Leupold VX3-HD 3.5-10x40 on my 9.3x62 and went to the range today to check the accuracy of my current load (250gr Peregrine @ 2500fps) and to establish how much to dial for shots out to 300m. The rifle is sighted at 200, so from 0 to 220 I just hold in the middle of the vital area but from 220 to 300, there is a considerable drop.

The two shots below were fired at 300m and are 2.5" apart.

I'd be very happy with that!

I am. 300 meters are about as far as I want to hunt with it but I am going to try and push it out to 500m on ghongs. The scope can dial up to 15 moa which should just about get me there.

Unpossible! The 9.3x62 is a 70M cartridge, what sorcery is this?

Shooting at red stars in these times ?

Could there be any reasons why that 9.3 would not be just as capable in regard to accuracy at 500 m as any other caliber (shooter excluded)?

I was really impressed shooting a meter x meter gong with 500 x 500 inner bullseye at 1 km using a 30 06, but when the Kiwi goat shaggers started klapping that plate at 1000 m using a 90 gr bullet from a 243 I was pretty astounded. (but not as much as by the golf shirts at 8 Cel)

Nice shooting TStone. Which peregrine bullet - VLR4 and what was the drop at 300m?

It is the 250gr VLR4. When sighted at 200m, drop at 300 is 4moa (12").

Thanks TStone. Looking at a ballsitcs calculator, the bullet should be going at 1940fp at 300m - how much less penetration would you expect at 300m vs 200m or nothing to think about really?

Penetration will be better at 300m than at 200m, where it is more than adequate, but expansion will be less at 300m. According to Peregrine, the VLR4 will expand reliably at 1600fps.
