    Default Dragonfly.

A dragonfly (not sure which one) photographed while boating on the Orange River, somewhere between Gariep dam and Vanderkloof dam.

    An excellent photo.

To think that those delicate looking wings turn the Dragonfly into a tiny jet plane of the insect world as the fastest flying insect.

Amazing things. Their 'air frame' has remained essentially unchanged for nearly 300 million years. A scaled up ancestor had a wingspan of 750 mm and weighed nearly half a kilo.
