Further incidents of sabotage at Eskom power stations thwart efforts to halt load shedding
    https://www.news24.com/news24/southa...dding-20220520

    ● Just a day after Eskom revealed two incidents of sabotage at Tutuka Power Station, further suspicious acts have occurred.

    ● Copper wires and reactor earth bars were removed from three units at the Hendrina Power Station, leading to a failure to start up units in the early hours of Friday.

    ● Incorrect oil was used on a unit at Duvha, causing further delays to return a unit to service that had been out of commission for longer than five months.

Is this the second phase of zuma's July ops last year?

It is worse than that, the anc is split into multiple factions at the moment.

The ANC is a criminal syndicate that has unfortunately got some measure of control over a state. Their office bearers whack each as a succession, their organisational activities are largely paid for by the proceeds of crime and their leaders are obscenely and ostentatiously wealthy with barely credible cover stories for its source. Apart from the fact that some of them have their pictures in police stations and home affairs there's no reliable way to tell them apart from any other organised crims. Thinking of them as a government is a trap that a lot of us middle class tax paying types falls into. It makes us look silly every time. Whether a faction of the gang would plunge the country into chaos to achieve their aims is a question that has already been answered.

Just to add to this thread, it’s not only Eskom or Power stations, but there is weekly theft of copper cables, manhole covers, valves, solar panels and various other metal infrastructure theft at reservoirs, pump stations, wastewater treatment plants, depots, ablution facilities etc.
When it’s not the criminals, it’s the “community” that threatens the Maintenance workers when they attend to issues at sites or simply just damage the infrastructure or connect illegally.

On average per month is probably around R500 000 due to theft and damages, another issue is that the Security Companies looking after these various sites, are inexperienced and not well resourced, because of the Tender process etc.
Obviously with huge amounts of loss per month, it would make sense to get a well-resourced company i.e. like Fidelity, which would make a massive difference instantly.

Here in KZN it's rumoured that security companies are the ones hitting sub stations , in a bid to force the municipalities hand into dropping massive security tenders.

I would deal with Fidelity on almost any security related service offering rather than SAPS or anyone appointed by a parastatal or government department in that order descending.

Agree, negotiation directly with the copper thieves will likely have a better outcome.
