    Default Traveling to Lesotho

Hi guys, hope you all are well.

I did notice there’s a few threads about traveling to Lesotho with a SD or Hunting gun and some say they check it in, some say just carry it through and others say it’s not allowed at all.
But, all these threads are at least a good 5 years old.
So, has anyone travelled to that region recently and know if a section 13 or 15 is permitted or even the laws around accessing the country with a firearm?

    Thanks

Join this group, it's literally a wealth of knowledge.

FYI: It's NOT allowed, the advice given was leave it at home or if you wish, areange to book it in at Ficksburg Arms, book it in Bethlehem at Die Skepnet, Skietwinkel or kloppers in Bloemfontein.

As far as I understand it, a permit would only be issued for hunting or sporting purposes by invitation only, so obviously not for EDC.

In some cultures that statement might be regarded as incitement.

Many people feel great about sneaking things across. Many get in and out to tell the tell.
What happens if you wreck your car and you need to be airlifted back home ?

Would you not be taken to a Lesotho hospital though?

Either way you will be screwed. And yes you could be airlifted to Bloemfontein if required.

The thing is if you are caught with a firearm illegally in the country you will probably end up in a state hospital that side anyway.

To anyone reading this. Don't do it. If you must travel with your firearm, store it at himeville saps before heading to the border. I went last weekend and they searched me at the border. They were on the verge of searching my vehicle also. Its not worth it.
