We have to differentiate between mass shootings, armed robberies, tribal wars, gangster violence and killings during drunken brawls. Pure mass shootings in South Africa, like the Skielik shooter and the Witwolf are nowhere near of that being experienced in the USA. I do agree that there are way more people murdered here per 100 000 than most other countries, but not due to mass shootings.

If you take a look at the USA homicide figures, 'Mass' shootings are a very small percentage of the total. They do make very sensational news topics and the shooters make it to the hall of infamy.

The (mostly male)shooter is very well prepared, the shooting is properly planned and the shooter usually uses some twisted ideology, but never money for his actions. That's pretty comprehensive and seems to unfairly favour basement dwelling, self radicalised nose miners in the US. If you left it at the first sentence us Saffers would be right at the head of the class with the Western Cape and KZN each outperforming the vast majority of countries in the world.

Unlike the rest of the first world, majority of teenagers in South Africa are not gamers, therefore mass shootings here are not a common occurrence.

Any game involving shooting, rewards the player for killing for hours on end. Add to that poor parenting, way too easily accessible semi automatics, the urge to make some impact in real life and the fact that most teenagers have never seen what damage a hunting rifle can do, and it is a good start for an upcoming mass shooter. And mass shootings, just like suicide, seems to have a domino effect in some countries.

Not condemning gaming, but you have to admit that some of the developers of some of these games strives to make it as violent as possible.

War by it's very nature is extremely violent, FPS games, just like flight simulators, aim to be as realistic as possible.
Would you suggest instead of head shot graphics, they change the games to show a bunch of stars or kisses?
Now lets say they do that, tie that in with your hunting rifle comment, now you have kids that think hunting rifles turn people into star bursts, but yeah making violent actions seem less violent is really the solution in your context.

Anyway, if you going to continue with this drivel (it is the second time you have blamed computer games for peoples behaviour), please explain why America doesn't have a massive problem with teenagers street racing, hijacking cars and running down prostitutes.
I can guarantee you that 90% of the gamers play or have played GTA.

Just a note. In New York state handguns are basically forbidden. They are 1 of 4 states that don't even have carry permits except for the politically connected.
Everyone in NY state are just unarmed targets.

Any half-truth is a lie. Same can be said for a partial definition.
