Re: 9mm Practice Ammo
Also not the biggest fan of factory reloads. Especially not the Nobleteq. Had a few issues with the first box I bought and decided the R40 or R50 saving wasn't worth it.
Problem is now the factory reloads and the factory ammo are nearing equal in price. Badger reloaded at Shooting Stuff is R300 a box.

Re: 9mm Practice Ammo
The other day I was at a competency training facility. They had a heap of empty blue NobleTeq ammo boxes there. I asked the facilitator if they don't have any problems with squibs as I have read various times here on gunsite about this. "No, never. Not one." They use about 3000 per month is my guess deducted from the heap of boxes and the facility is now about 4 years old. About 140 000 rounds of NobleTeq without remembering a problem. I am not saying that any bad experiences did not happen with the gents complaining, but are NobleTeq really so bad as they are made out to be? Have we experienced it ourselves or just read about it and now it became a thing to say "NobleTeq has squibs." Myself were in a pinch about 3 years ago when I couldn't reload because of serious elbow problems and surgery. I kept on shooting with my weak hand though. During that time the only ammo I could find locally were NobleTech. I used about 1200 of them also without 1 single problem.

Re: 9mm Practice Ammo
I hear you. Iv never had a squib load. But I have had a number of failure to feed. This was years ago. Maybe QC has improved, but I haven't bought them since, also theres the dilemma of collecting brass to reload is the R50 - R100 discount worth it.

Re: 9mm Practice Ammo
I have seen at least 5 with that brand. Admittedly, the last one was around 4 years ago. Their quality may have improved and I would hope that it has as it should given the failures I observed. I don't trust any employee to reload with the care I do and nor do I expect it so even if I didn't reload myself i wouldn't buy commercial reloads.

Re: 9mm Practice Ammo
Years ago Shooting NGA reloads with a friends Taurus 357 sig. (I would never own my own Taurus pistol) I fired a shot and the magazine blew out and jammed the pistol solid. My hand was painful for 2 weeks afterwards. I can only think that they double charged the round.

Re: 9mm Practice Ammo
Start reloading for practice ammo.
Is the only way to save.
Well if you can get primers.

Re: 9mm Practice Ammo
I can vouch for Nobelteq too, only one hard primer strike out of hundreds of rounds fired at the range in 9mm & .40.
(That can happen with factory ammo too)
No, its not something I depend on in a self defence situation, its for paractice at the range so one hard primer strike can be accepted.
I've mentioned in previous threads that I have been out to their factory in Centurion, and was given a tour around the place and shown all the automated equipment.
It's impressive & has good qaulity control with each box of ammo having a batch number that can be traced to any problems you may experience.
If these guys had a reputation for squib loads, I dont think any dealers or training centres would touch them & they wouldn't be in buisiness.
I've metioned the comments on this forum to them & encourage them to sign up & defend their product with reasoning & stats.
That said, the cost is too high on their handgun reloads, so I dont understand how they can compete with the likes of S&B etc ..
Perhaps they should do away with that hard plastic box and make cardboard ones, to reduce overall cost to end user per 50 rounds.
I buy a lot of bullet from them for reloading, which they deliver directly to me.
They are a real nice bunch of guys & it's great that we have a South African company that can do what they do, including specialised hunting loads.
Irrespective of what we shoot, we should all be aware of squibs & be immdiatly able to identify one if they occur with any type of ammo including all the factory stuff
It's not the squib that will blow your gun up, its because you didnt notice it & pulled the trigger a 2nd time.
Anyway, just my 2c worth on Nobelteq.
Stay safe gentelmen ...
