I bought a Mark 3* and I would like to figure out if the markings contain any info on the gun:

The main marking is

Crown symbol
GR >> George Rex
1917 >> production year
SHTLE >> short LE
Mark 3 * >> obvious

The butt disc says

Arrow >> Union of South Africa I think
SAP >> South African Police, clear because it is ex police stock
7248 >> no idea what this number means

On the action
Serial Number: same as on the barrel
There is the letter A before the serial number, could be part of the serial number
U >> Union of South Africa
Weird marking that looks like a small 2 and then an S
Arrow >> Union of South Africa

On the rear of the action you have
0
Unreadable marking
S.SA >> not sure if it means South Africa

The bolt has its own serial number, probably refurbished at one time or another

I cannot find an indication where it was manufactured, any idea where to look.
