@ OP, are you sure it's not a standard metric screw? the Howa actions screws are standard M6...

I have never seen a Sako that was not made in Finland, except for some early models that were built on FN actions or barreled actions, before they made their own.

I own a Weatherby mk V action that was made in Japan, by Howa.
    Apologies,

I read an article years ago about how Howa were contracted to make parts for Sako and then proceeded to manufacture actions and rifles. I am wrong about them making whole rifles/ actions for Sako but they did copy Sako.

The action copied was the L61R (Used on Sako Finnbear), they also produced a shorter action similar to the L579 but the same diameter as the L61R and about 0.2" longer than the L579. Apparently 3000 of the L61R copy rifles were brought to market as the Howa Golden Bear in 1967 and the L61R copy rifles all chambered in 30-06 could actually use a genuine Sako Finnbear bolt. The L579 copy was a short action they built .308Win rifles on but had no interchangeability except for some minor parts with the Sako L579.

Sako took Howa on about copyright. Howa states they developed the M1500 in 1979 from the Golden Bear.

It's a very specific little screw(?shoulder bolt) that centers the bolt stop and allows it to pivot

Had one of these but with a bolt head that worked with a #11 spanner on one of my imported machines, you'd be hard pressed to find it locally. Nearly all the engineering supply shops I went to hadn't seen it before. But then I live I a sleepy hollow

If you don’t get a solution, I can buy one this side and then see how we can get it back your side, but it may be a very lengthy process.

Thank you everyone. Appreciate the help. Sheeprabbit that is very generous. IL revert back if I don't come right but any machinist should be able to turn one out. Right now I've robbed one from my 338 wm....

Is it worth me buying one to keep as a spare? How often do they dislodge?

It seems that Howa is not the Glock equivalent in SA as I had thought.
