Surely if you have the serial number, your gun can be tracked if it was sold on to a gun shop. It should be on the system then, no? Or will be on the system at some point?

Thats assuming there was a gun to begin with.

Odd. I did find that they were located in a rather inconvenient spot. And, from what I recall, they only worked by appointment (I think).

Not a good move for an out-of-towner to have taken a gamble on a relatively unknown joint.

To echo what's been said, if you've paid for the gun you should at the very least have the SAPS271 which should give you serial number, and if you're lucky, importer details as well. That should be enough to try and track the gun via your DFO to see if it's been transferred into another dealer's stock.

Fortunately (I use the word somewhat ironically), the movement of firearms is a pretty paper-intensive process so a paper trail must exist to enable you to find your gun. That's if the gun does indeed exist.

If the owners have made off with the firearms (which I highly doubt), then you're going to be the least of their concerns once SAPS find out.

This is, of course, all just conjecture based off a few unqualified words from an unknown source.

I am sure the local DFO will know what happened to the firearms?

You can ask your DFO to check the serial number for you.

One used to be able to call CFR and ask to do a 350 check; not sure if that's a thing anymore. DFO then.

That gun is your property and should not form part of the company assets. Find out who the liquidators are, make sure that your ownership are established and arrange for transfer of the gun to another dealer of your choice unless you can get a storage permit.

What he said, sound advice. The firearm cannot form part of the sequestration as ownership resides with you.
