My DFO also won’t allow me to fetch a card without handing over the print out .
Same with renewals, they insist on the old card

Perhaps I should add that my dfo is special. He reprinted a printout for me before the 'functionality was added to the system'. On the day printouts were enabled on the system. He knows his way around the system very well.
I am a regular at his offices, unfortunately not for having a huge fa budget, but I get there often enough.

I received approval sms yesterday. Took a chance to get printout without receipt. Was refused without receipt.

Why would they require the receipt? Making up rules again as they go along.

My DFo uses the reference number on the receipt to find the entry into their book ,

The last print out I went to retrieve I had to go through the entire book to find my application entry .

So yes probably a made up rule by the DFO , to make things easier for them …

The book is in chronological order, go on the system and check on which day the application was made. Then just check in the book? Or just give you the book and let you find your name?

Problem is they know you won’t rock the boat because next time they will just make your life more difficult.

I have gotten a surprise approval and walked into a DFO office in a different province (The firearm was in gauteng, I applied in KZN, and was visiting GP when the approval came through) and got a printout with no paperwork at all - maybe they checked my ID, but I can't recall it...

My DFO only asked for the application ref, checked the system and printed the form. In and out in 3 min

Same experience yesterday. Walked in asked for a printout, lady asked for my reference number. Printed it and i left. I signed no register she did not verify my identity. It’s amazing how every time you go to the same dfo even, the process differs…
