Quality is better, more updated. Known production origin. The folding stock is excellent. Like Colt AR rifles, grab them when available as who knows when or if we will see them again.

They are simple to convert. However in over 10 years of owning one I have never bothered. The factory mags are built like a tank. Probably the most durable mags I have ever used. Some sort of heavy duty fibre/polymer with steel feed lips and locking points. You will never wear them out in your lifetime. DS on this forum has possibly the most stunningly set up Saiga I have ever seen. He converted his to AK mags. I own both Saiga and Type 56 underfolder.

It seems like AKs are selling fast and it is bad timing for me. I have almost reached my budget but now it seems prices are going up with every shipment.

The 56 at Dave Sheer are apparently selling for R15. Up from 8-10 beginning of the year.
The Saigas where R14 a while ago, up to R18 and now I hear high 20s.

Just wait for a shipment to come in.
Prices go crazy on the Type56 between shipments, then drop back to around R9,000 when there is lots of stock.

Also shop around when they come. Tactical HQ had ones R800 cheaper than Spartan last time from the same shipment.
