Default Target stands and plate hangers

Made up some more target stands and plate hangers out of 50x50x2 tube. The thumb screws are threaded rod with a wing nut staked in place with a sharp masonry nail. The hangers have a thick walled tube welded in at the peak to add a bit of reinforcement. The square plate is 200x200x12 mild steel which I'm going to try out with birdshot and 9mmP. I'm staggered at how much steel has gone up in the last 5 years or so.

These are nice. I really wish I had fabrication skills. :(

Rather try buying whatever steel you need from a scrap metal dealer

    To the OP?
    The stands look good bud.

Birdshot and 9mmP will only leave minor pitting and paint discolouration.
My 10mm drop plates only show character with 9mmP

There aren't any nearby to me and I needed a bit more to finish off yesterday so new it had to be. Otherwise I only use scrap unless it's something very particular. I also don't really need to buy much as I have quite a pile for which I am developing more and more of an appreciation.

'A grinder and paint make me the welder I ain't'. Precious little in the way of skill there, bit of cutting and metal gluing. I think that with a cheap inverter welder and a weekend of messing about with some scraps you could easily do better.

Yip, that 12mm plate is as happy as Larry. 9mm, including 20 rounds of 124 +p Rangers, and birdshot did nothing more than add a bit of texture. Will keep and eye out for plate offcuts when I'm next at the scrappy.

How much per stand? You can make some money here.
