Re: Gunsite forum opening spam / phishing page
I believe that very few members appreciate the amount of time KK20 spend answering questions from me, members of Gunsite and probably other moderators. It is a rather thankless job with no regular hours.

Re: Gunsite forum opening spam / phishing page
I will not downplay the issue of spam, but to expand a bit on the issues we face: some high-post-count members wait for an opportunity to pounce on our members in the US, Canada, and the EU.
Many of these foreign members do drop private messages, and we end up getting to know these members a little more than their online profiles show.
Over time, trust is established, and these foreign members forwarded PMs from these low-life members here that paint a picture of being in a civil war, facing starvation, and having to take care of orphans from a parish, etc., and they actually ask for money or accessories for guns.
Others will start up sham posts to illicit a response from certain solid members, then take over via PMs and slowly soften them up to extract things from them.
Keep in mind that most members of GS are solid people with genuinely kind hearts, and therefore, GS has been ripe for the picking.
People are free to PM or call to chat to find out, instead of hammering out presumptions, allegations, and perpetuating untruths, but I suppose it is a thrill to post a rant and act up instead of taking a minute to assess and think rationally about the issue.
^ The above is to clarify a few matters brought up on other platforms.
Claiming or wishing the site dead is coming only from naysayers who will tend to piss their panties about anything and everything.
We have many Foreign members as I stated above and some of them are moderators on their own forums abroad.
We share notes and they are not without issues either.
WRT to the trend of forums becoming slower and the onboarding of new members being slower are in keeping across the board in favour of newer platforms that the younger generation seem to prefer. In fact many things discussed and posted here on GS will be referenced on WhatsApp groups and discussions.
Those that start threads and keep threads rolling of negative content are not the same guys starting and contributing to threads that adhere to the core of what the site is about.
I like to thank all those who are genuinely wanting to help and please feel free to touch base with any of the Mods and we assess , plan and execute . or at the very least you will no longer be in the dark about matters .live out your imagination , not your history.

Re: Gunsite forum opening spam / phishing page
I really enjoy the forum and a big thank you needs to go to the mods for keeping things tidy around here. I stumbled onto it years ago while looking for information and ended up staying.
The only thing that frustrates me about GS is how often the site is down.
I need my daily fix

Re: Gunsite forum opening spam / phishing page
For what it's worth as an ex pat, I find the forum useful in obviously not only exchanging ideas on a subject we're all invested in but to also help keep abreast of legislative developments in the old country.
