I will throw in another vote for Freyr & Devik. Expensive, but lots of models / options to choose from. I have the Ultimate Silence 3D 281 in 30cal that I use on a 30.06 for my wife and a 3D 231 in 30cal that I use on a 7x64. The 2 are inter-changeable between the 2 rifles and I have found the 231 model works great on both (231 refers to the actual weight of the suppressor and with F&D it is accurate). My wife, who is relatively small in stature, is quite happy to shoot the 30.06 with the 231 model and she handles the reduced recoil with ease. My god-daughter, who I would describe as petite and weighs less than 50kg, shoots the 7x64 with the 231 model.

The F&D website has all the details of weight, length, added length to barrel and diameter (these are all accurate and the diameter is based on the thickest part of the suppressor), and the suppression rate. If you are willing to part the money for an F&D it is worth comparing the different models before making a choice.

With regard to TStone's comment on the 131 model - that thing is tiny. If you look on the F&D website it is next to the 231 model and the picture makes it look about half the size of the 231 model. In physical dimensions it is about a third of the size of a 231 model and the 231 model is already a relatively small and compact suppressor.

I recently fitted a F&D 231 to my 9.3x62 in anticipation of a recoil shy lady that wanted to hunt a buffalo, the 9.3x62 is legal for buffalo in the Free State, I had the barrel shortened to 20" to improve balance and handling with the suppressor attached. The rifle is ±1" longer than my unsuppressed .375 with the F&D attached.

Unfortunately, the hunt did not happen, but I now have a suppressed medium bore that recoil like a .308 and can be shot safely without hearing protection. Without the suppressor, it is a real compact rifle for hunting thickets and carrying on a quadbike, though rather loud. Velocity loss from the shorter barrel (20" vs. 22") is 15fps for 285gr SBC bullets and 47fps for 230gr Peregrines.

The F&D 231 is rated for standard calibers and magnums up to .300 win mag. It adds 120mm to overall length of a rifle.

We have an Ase Utra SL 5 I attached to a 6.5x55 Swede. I am happy with the size, performance and balance, however the truth be told, I don't have anything to compare to. We need another suppressor to attach to a .308 and this time around I am opting for Freyr-Devik. I need recommendations from those familiar, between the Model 196 and the Model 231. All advice is highly appreciated.

For a 6.5x55, I would go with the 196 or the 131. The 231 and 269 are unnecessarily heavy for that caliber.

I have a F&D 196 6.5mm with M14x1 thread, that has never been on a rifle. It will fit a normal sporter barrel, but not a bull barrel. If you are interested, let me know.

Thanks for the reply. I have an Ase Utra SL5I on the 6.5x55. This time round I'm shopping for a suppressor for a .308

For a .308, I would go with the F&D 131. It is tiny, but effective.
