Expired License Applications

I was just curious, has anyone here personally or know of someone else who successfully applied for a new license based on an expired license?

Applied for a renewal on an expired license or applying for another firearm (new) license while having an expired license for another firearm?

I was under the impression that if your license expired you would have to apply for a new license for the same firearm though I could be mistaken.

So I guess applying for a renewal of an expired license.

I know personally of people applying for new licences whioe they had expired licences, and the applications were approved. Ive also convinced them to reapply for new licences for the expired licenses,which they are doing.

Its not a renewal.

Its a 271 form, license to possess.

It has an added annexure form which is an inspection form. Allows you present firearm than take home and leave in your safe.

Do you have to come up with some sob story to impress the DFO or is it more or less a formality by now.

According to a local captain in the DFO's office, you need to state in your motivation letter, what led to the lapse of the original licence and motivate why it should be renewed, what is actually required (as per the court case) is not clear (IMO)
