Default Anyone in the Tyre business?

    Specifically heavy-duty SUV and overlanding.

I am tired of getting vague answers elsewhere.

    HELP!

currently 265/75/16 excellent and no issues.

Looking at 285/75/16 ( for no other than look and fills the arch better) I tried Cooper 285 and it does not touch.

Keep in mind that OEM was 275/70/65 a very difficult size to get here.

I have OME so there is a slight lift.

I threw that size in to Errols Tyres, and there are some brands, but you're going to pay through your ears.. https://www.errolstyres.co.za/

I ran Maxxis Bighorns on my Landcruiser for approx 8 years. Was very happy with them ito of onroad driveability and offroad capability but I believe pricing has levelled up to the more established/premium brands.

I need more input on this:
    285/75/16 vs 265/75/16

(ignore brand of tyre or keep it BFG)

I was never a hard core trail or long range over landing nut so take this from whence it comes. Wider 'luggy' offraod tyres are more prone to tram lining on road in my experience. They are also likely to incur at least some increase in fuel consumption and may be slightly louder on tar than a narrower size. The only advantage, other than aesthetics, that I can think of is the potential for better 'flotation' due to a reduction in ground pressure from the larger contact patch. I doubt that, that and any other potential advantages, would be significant enough to notice unless you were on the ragged edge and having seen seen guys drive through some heinous places on skinny tyres I think its unlikely.

That pretty much sums up my experience.
